AI data residency for experts: choose where your AI Twin runs
Where AI processes your answers is now a real question for professionals, especially in Europe. Here is what a processing region is, why it matters and how to set one for your AI Twin.

Professionals who share their expertise through AI are asked a new question by clients, employers and readers: where does the AI actually run? For many people in Europe, Canada and regulated fields, the answer matters as much as the quality of the reply.
What a processing region is
Every answer an AI Twin gives is produced by an AI model running somewhere in the world. The processing region is the location of that work. Choosing it lets you keep the processing of answers in the region your audience expects.
Why it matters for experts
- Clients in Europe often prefer that AI work on their questions stays in Europe.
- Universities and professional bodies increasingly publish guidance on where AI may run.
- Organizations want each team's assistant to follow the same rules as the rest of their systems.
- A clear answer to the question builds trust before the first conversation.
The regions you can choose
AI Twin lets you choose the United States, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden or the Netherlands. The list is growing. The setting is made per AI Twin, so one person or one organization can run different Twins in different regions.
How to set it
- Open your AI Twin settings and go to Answer model.
- Under Preferred processing region, choose the region you want.
- Save and publish. New answers are processed in that region.
Some answer models are offered only in the United States. If the region matters to you, choose a model that supports it.
Sovereign AI, in practical terms
Much of the discussion about sovereign AI is about nations and infrastructure. For an individual expert, the practical version is simpler: decide what your AI may know, what it may answer, who may ask and where it runs. An AI Twin gives you each of those choices.
It cites. It stays within scope. It knows when not to answer.
